Last Epoch Quests That Give Passive Points: List

You can earn up to 15 bonus passive points from campaign quests in Last Epoch, on top of one point per character level, for a lifetime maximum of 113 points. Main story quests alone hand out 8 of those 15, so you only need 7 more from side quests or dungeons. The same campaign also unlocks all 20 idol slots.

  • Cap: only your first 15 quest points count, so you can skip roughly half the list.
  • Main quests cover 8 points, which means 7 side or dungeon points finish the job.
  • Four quests pay 2 points each, and three of those four sit inside dungeons.
  • Idol slots are a separate track with 20 slots unlocked by their own mix of main and side quests.

How the 15-point quest cap works

Every character earns one passive point per level starting at level 3, and quests can add up to 15 more on top. Levels 3 through 100 supply 98 points, and 98 plus 15 gives the widely quoted lifetime maximum of 113. Once your quest rewards reach 15, further passive-point quests grant nothing extra, so there is no reason to chase the full list on every character.

Official source: Last Epoch on Steam and lastepoch.com describe the campaign and class systems; the 15-point quest cap and 113-point maximum below follow Maxroll's passives and skills overview, updated March 27, 2026.

One honest footnote: older coverage from 2024 lists the cap as 13 quest points, while 2025 and 2026 guides agree on 15. Reward totals have moved with patches before, so if a future patch changes the cap again, the chapter-by-chapter list below still shows where every point lives. If you are brand new, read our beginner guide first so the chapter names below make sense.

Every quest that gives passive points, by chapter

The table below merges two independent guide lists published a year apart, and both agree on the same 26 quests. Four of them pay 2 points each, which puts 30 points on offer against a cap of 15. Chapter 7 is the only chapter with no passive-point quest at all.

Chapter Quest Where to start it Points Type
1 The Keepers The Keeper's Camp 1 Main
1 The Keeper Vault The Keeper's Vault 1 Main
1 Storeroom Saboteurs The Storerooms 1 Side
2 The Power of Mastery End of Time 1 Main
2 Finding Pannion Council Chambers 1 Main
2 Erza's Ledger or Artem's Offer Council Chambers 1 Side, pick one
2 Evacuation Last Refuge Outskirts 1 Side
2 The Upper District The Upper District 1 Side
3 The Lesser Refuge Council Chambers 2 Side
3 Lightless Arbor Lightless Arbor dungeon 2 Dungeon
4 A Study in Time The Outcast Camp 1 Side
4 The Corrupted Lake The Corrupted Lake 1 Side
4 Soulfire Bastion Soulfire Bastion dungeon 2 Dungeon
5 The Oracle's Aid The Shining Cove 1 Main
5 Hidden Gems Majasan Desert 1 Side
5 The Sapphire Tablet The Oracle's Abode 1 Side
5 Temporal Sanctum Temporal Sanctum dungeon 2 Dungeon
6 The Immortal Citadel Yulia's Haven 1 Main
6 Alric's Revenge Yulia's Haven 1 Side
7 None None 0 None
8 Lagon Temple of Lagon 1 Main
8 Liath's Tower Liath's Road 1 Side
8 Destroying the Siege Camp Etendell 1 Side
9 Apophis and Majasa Temple Rooftops 1 Main
9 Desert Treasure Radiant Dunes 1 Side
9 Oasis Hunt Maj'elka Upper District 1 Side

Two details deserve a flag. First, Erza's Ledger and Artem's Offer are an either-or choice from the Council Chambers, so Chapter 2 yields 5 side-or-main points either way, not 6. Second, the dungeon entries require entering Lightless Arbor, Soulfire Bastion, or the Temporal Sanctum, which are longer commitments than a normal side quest. Our dungeon guide covers what each key run demands before you detour for the points.

The fastest route to all 15 points

Because the cap is 15 and early chapters are dense with points, you can finish the whole hunt by the middle of the story without touching a dungeon. Follow this order and count along:

  1. Chapter 1, all three quests (The Keepers, The Keeper Vault, Storeroom Saboteurs) for 3 points. Running total: 3.
  2. Chapter 2, all five pickups (The Power of Mastery, Finding Pannion, Erza's Ledger or Artem's Offer, Evacuation, The Upper District) for 5 more. Running total: 8.
  3. Chapter 3, The Lesser Refuge only, worth 2 points. Running total: 10. Skip Lightless Arbor for now unless you already want its dungeon rewards.
  4. Chapter 4, A Study in Time and The Corrupted Lake for 1 point each. Running total: 12.
  5. Chapter 5, The Oracle's Aid, Hidden Gems, and The Sapphire Tablet for 1 point each. Running total: 15. You are done.

Cap out in Chapter 5, then stop thinking about points

The route above hits 15 before you ever meet Lagon or Majasa, so Chapters 6 through 9 become optional for passives. The boss fights still gate story progress, so keep our campaign boss order handy, but you never need to backtrack for points again.

If you rushed ahead and skipped side quests, the three 2-point dungeon quests are the fastest catch-up: Lightless Arbor, Soulfire Bastion, and Temporal Sanctum pay 6 points between them. And if you jumped straight to endgame content, remember that the Monolith of Fate never grants quest points, so any missing points are still waiting back in the campaign zones above.

Idol slots: which quests unlock the 20 slots

Passive points and idol slots unlock side by side during the story, but they are separate tracks with separate caps. The idol inventory holds 20 slots in total, and quest completion opens them gradually; three main quests plus ten side quests cover the full set. If you finish the story with locked slots, just return to the leftover side quests listed here and they open quickly.

Chapter Quest Zone Track
2 The Void Assault Last Refuge Outskirts Main
4 The Admiral's Dreadnought The Risen Lake Main
7 The Lance of Heorot Farwood Main
3 An Ancient Hunt Council Chambers Side
4 The Corrupted Lake The Corrupted Lake Side
5 The Sapphire Tablet The Oracle's Abode Side
7 Liberating the Namads Wengari Fortress Side
7 A Heoborean Cure Heoborea Side
8 Liath's Tower Liath's Road Side
9 Arjani, the Ruby Commander Maj'elka Upper District Side
9 Desert Treasure Radiant Dunes Side
9 Harton's Idol Soreth'Ka Side
9 Too Greedily, Too Deep The Oasis Side

Notice the overlap: The Corrupted Lake, The Sapphire Tablet, Liath's Tower, and Desert Treasure each grant both a passive point and idol progress, so they are the highest-value side quests in the game. The full idol mechanics, including sizes and class-specific bonuses, follow Icy Veins' unlocking idols guide, updated March 25, 2025.

Skipping the campaign skips your slots too

Dungeon-based campaign skips do not complete side quests, so characters that jump ahead commonly arrive at endgame with missing idol slots and missing passive points. Both are fixed the same way: walk back through the tables above and clear what you skipped.

Spending and respecing your quest points

Quest points spend exactly like level points anywhere in your unlocked class and mastery trees, and the first half of every mastery tree stays available no matter which mastery you picked. If you misspend, any Chronomancer NPC, including the one in the End of Time, removes passive points for a small gold fee each. Our Weaver Tree guide explains where the points do the most work once you have all 15.

FAQ

Do I need to finish every passive quest to reach the cap? No. Thirty points are on offer against a cap of 15, so finishing the main quests plus a handful of early side quests is enough. Stop counting once you hit 15.

I rushed to endgame and my points are missing. What now? Go back and clear the skipped side quests in Chapters 1 through 5 using the table above. The three 2-point dungeon quests are the quickest catch-up if you skipped a lot.

Can quest passive points be respeced like normal points? Yes. Quest points are identical to level points once earned, and a Chronomancer removes them one at a time for gold. Nothing about a point remembers which quest granted it.

Do idol slots share the 15-point cap? No, idols are a separate system with 20 slots unlocked by their own quest list. A quest can grant both, like Desert Treasure does, but the two counters never interfere with each other.

Why do some guides say the cap is 13 instead of 15? The cap was 13 in 2024 coverage and sits at 15 in 2025 and 2026 guides. Use 15 as the current number, and expect reward totals to keep shifting slightly with patches.
